Day 23: Girl on the Runway

Lyrics:
Girl on the runway
Oh, she's got that style
Girl on the runway
Yeah, she wears it well
Her lips are plush and pouty
Her limbs are long and lanky
Girl on the runway
Won't you runaway with me

Girl on the runway
She looks so serious
Girl on the runway
But she won't look at us
I like to watch her walking
Her poses when she's stopping
Girl on the runway
Won't you runaway with me

You sure are balanced
In your high heel shoes
And you wear your talents
On your sleeve, it's true

Girl on the runway, someday
I'm gonna make you mine
Gather, tuck it, pleat it, smock it
Gonna raise that hemline, and I
Seam and sew, do that weave
I do believe you're hot
Under the collar
Zipper, button, eyelets
Magnets, Velcro, take it off
Let's go!

Girl on the runway
Her fashion's all the rage
Girl on the runway
Until she goes backstage
And when her spotlight's gone
She has no make-up on
Girl from the runway's
Gonna run on home to me

Details: This is a bad song. I think yesterday's song with Jeanne was so sublime that I must've had to balance the scales. I'm trying to decide if I think this works even as a novelty song, but nope! It's just bad. At certain points it even reminds me of "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke *shudder* My apologies.

Thursday nights my roommate watches Project Runway, so that got me on the topic of fashion models. Then I went out for a walk and came up with something I thought was going to be a rap, but when I got home, I couldn't figure out any way to play the guitar to capture anything remotely hip-hop-like. So I turned it into more of a song, but still retained a "rap" for the bridge. Of course, I don't really know anything about fashion, and my research wasn't giving me enough information quickly enough.

Anyway, it took me 3.5 hours to write and 30 minutes to record. There's always tomorrow...
