Day 3: Time To Settle Down
By David CoileWell, it's been a long day
Now it's time to settle down
And your mind is in a haze
Now it's time to settle down
When your world is going crazy
You should try to settle down
And I swear it's not too lazy
If you try to settle down
You can close your eyes
And take a deep breath
Then think about a time when
You were filled with happiness
You know that you'll feel better
If you get a little rest
Listen to the rhythm beating in your chest
I know when you're excited
That it's hard to settle down
When your nerves turn on like lightning
It's so hard to settle down
When your mind is in a tizzy
You should try to settle down
And when you're feeling dizzy
This is how you settle down
You can close your eyes
And take a deep breath
Then think about a time when
You were filled with happiness
You know that you'll feel better
If you get a little rest
Listen to the rhythm beating in your chest

Details: I wanted to do something a bit more mellow than the last couple days, so that's what I was reaching for with this groove. I'm also already kind of exhausted by the daily songwriting process-- probably because I'm starting too late in the day (the last couple nights I finished recording around midnight).
Tonight, I wanted to whip out something quickly, so this song feels a bit like a throwaway. But sometimes people really like simple songs that come quickly. I like the groove and the refrain; it's a nice message.
