Day 25: The Cold Or The Medicine
By David Coile
Part of my daily songwriting project for January 2025
Lyrics:
It was late in the evening
When I got my runny nose
Had a standard issue box of tissues
But, man, it really blows
Took cough drops and a cup of NyQuil
And then I went to bed
When I woke up I could barely move
I felt like I was dead
Is it the cold or the medicine
That's got me feeling down?
There's snow outside too high to drive through
I just can't get around
And I have an empty pantry
Left my groceries at the store
Take Robitussin, tuck myself in
And maybe that's the cure
Last night I got the symptoms
When I hung up the phone
My eyes began to water
And I began to moan
I opened up the cabinets
Looking for relief
Took Benadryl, it nearly killed me
At least, that's what I believe
Is it the cold or the medicine
That's got me feeling down?
There's snow outside too high to drive through
I just can't get around
And I have an empty pantry
Left my groceries at the store
Take Robitussin, tuck myself in
And maybe that's the cure

Details:
Meh. I have a cold. I figured I'd write a song about it.
