Day 31: Goodbye

Lyrics:
It's been a bitter cold season
The whole time been buried in the snow
But let's not dwell too much on things we can't control
The cold ain't so cold when we're together

Days with good friends 'round the fire
Nights telling tales spun so tall
I love how we danced and we sang our favorite songs
I wish it could go on forever

But now it's time to say
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Don't you know that
I'll remember our time spent here
But now it's time to say
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
You better bet that
I'll see you next year

Thank you for sharing these stories
Thank you for hanging around
Thank you for letting me drown in my own tears
Then wash them all away with some laughter

And now it's time to say
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Don't you know that
I'll remember our time spent here
And now it's time to say
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
You better bet that
I'll see you next year

And we must stay in touch
Simple words mean so much

But now it's time to say
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Don't you know that
I'll remember our time spent here
But now it's time to say
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
You better bet that
I'll see you next year

Details: I just wanted to write a simple goodbye song, and this took only about 3 hours to write and (surprisingly) an hour to record.

My second annual Song-a-day January is complete, and it's been an absolute blast!!!! Thanks to Karen Finch, Cheyenne Dane, Murray Barker, Chelsea Kramer, Troy Fluhr, Todd Hawkins, Muriah Summer, Teresa Storch, Kirk Bennett, John Bunzli, Trish Applegate-Loetz, BJ Suter, Jay Stott, and Antonio Lopez for writing such wonderful songs with me and for making the experience that much more enjoyable. And thanks to all of you who popped by to take a listen; it's been a pleasure playing for you. And I hope you stick around-- my plan is to take these songs and make them better as the year progresses. Have a fantastic 2019!
