Day 5: Southwestern Pastoral

I've been dealing with a minor cold, so I decided to give my voice a break and write an instrumental. I like to say that I'm a professional singer-songwriter and an amateur guitarist, so this is perilous territory for me. But I think I came up with at least an interesting structure, if not the most polished performance. It took about 5 hours to write. Comments and critiques are welcome.

Boring Details: I was originally going to compose something with my keyboard on garageband-- do something more orchestrated. But I haven't done that kind of composing in a while and everything looks different, so after an hour, I decided to go back to my trusty guitar. This project has been challenging my instrumental prowess (I've been working hard to come up with distinctive arrangements for each song), and it feels like my technique is getting better. Still, I have fat, sore fingers that stop working after a couple hours...

I woke up early this morning because the anxiety around this project is finally getting to me. I'm really freaked out that I've committed to putting all my work out there this month, even my dirty laundry. Some days I like to imagine I'm a genius songwriter, but this project will knock me down to earth. I really appreciate all the kind words you folks post-- it really helps ease the stress of feeling naked in front of everybody. Thanks again for listening with charitable ears.
