Ani DiFranco is one of my musical heroes. Her lyrics are deft and her guitar playing unique. She's also written more than her fair share of feminist anthems. My musical pick for International Women's Day is "32 Flavors", one of Ani's sweeter, more melodic tunes, but still retaining her lyrical bite.
The great thing about International Women's Day is that it not only celebrates women, but it highlights their diversity. Women come in so many varieties, with inner lives of wonderful complexity. It's a shame that the world still needs to be reminded of that. 32 flavors and then some...
