Day 26: Free Car Wash Day (At The Circle K)

Lyrics:
Let's go down
Let's go down
To the corner store
Let's go down
Let's go down
To the corner store
All my friends will be there
Everybody knows it's
Free Car Wash Day
At the Circle K

Let's go clean
This green machine
At the corner store
It always seems
Like a submarine
At the corner store
It's not swimming in the sea
It's the next best thing, it's
Free Car Wash Day
At the Circle K

We'll buy rolling hot dogs
Maybe Frosters, too
And then we'll play some cornhole
Don't you know that I'll beat you?

Let's go sing
Let's go sing
At the corner store
Let's go dance
Let's go dance
At the corner store
The local station will be there
Playing tunes because it's
Free Car Wash Day
At the Circle K

Details: After yesterday's super downer of a song, it was requested that I write a "cheerful ditty" for today. Like I mentioned in yesterday's details, I was going to try to work out the melody before touching the guitar this time, so I went for a walk. A blocks out, I saw that there was some sort of event happening at the Circle K on 19th & Main. There was a big sign that said "Free Car Wash" and some kids playing Cornhole. The weirdest thing was that there was a KBCO tent there-- I mean, what could be happening that KBCO was at this gas station convenience store? I didn't actually go over there to find out. Instead I later tried to look it up online, but I couldn't find an explanation.

But it reminded me of when I was a kid and I used to get jazzed about going to the car wash and even getting Slurpees at 7-Eleven-- there was a time when those places were pretty damn cool, and I couldn't help but imagine that for those kids playing Cornhole, this was a big deal! So this song goes out to all those kids, young and old...

This song wrote itself pretty quickly; it took about 2 hours to finish, then another 30 minutes to record it.
