Day 9: Come Back To Me (with Cheyenne Dane)

Lyrics:
You've got nebulae in your brain
Grey matter smattered with shimmering stars
In a gaseous watercolor shapeshifter
How I wonder where you are

Come back to Earth, my lover
We've really missed you down here
Plant your feet into the fertile soil
Get your head out of the stratosphere

Come back, come back, come back to me

Come back to Earth now, my lover
Bring your lofty brain back to me
See the red shift now my darlin'
And the moon pulling at the sea

Your mind's always in orbit
Primordial emotional blues
How about you just look into my eyes
My singularity will pull you through

Come back, come back, come back to me

There are more stars in the sky
Than grains of sand on the beach
But I'm right here beside you
I'm right here within your reach

Come back to me

Details: This is Cheyenne's and my third co-written song, and we're kind of developing a routine. I pretty much start out with the chords and she takes lead on the lyrics. I may mumble out a few improvisatory lines, but Cheyenne will interpret those mumbles into something more coherent.

While we were talking at the beginning of the session, Cheyenne said something about having a nebula in her head (I think), so we took that as a starting point for the song. For the most part, I think the song relates to her current relationship; how she may be off in the clouds and her boyfriend tries to call her back.

The last couple songs I wrote with Cheyenne were kind of unusual and somewhat dark songs, so it was nice to do something a bit more straight-forward this time.

We whipped this one out quickly. Took about an hour to write and an hour to record. It was recorded in the We're Jammin' Center for Music Exploration.
